Rosenthal-Levy Scholars Application

This application must be completed in order. You will move to the next page only after completing the current one. The application includes the following sections:

At the end of Section IV, you can choose to continue on to complete the essays and file uploads and submit your full application or save your progress and return later. If you decide to return later, you’ll receive an email with simple instructions on how to come back and finish your application.

What are the Essay Questions?


Essay I (Version A: High School Students)
Select three significant influences in your life—such as a defining experience, a teacher, or a great book—and explain how they have prepared you to succeed as a Rosenthal-Levy Scholar.
Maximum 500 words

Essay I (Version B: College Students)
Describe one college course that changed your perspective on Western Civilization, Judaism, or America. What was the nature of that change?
Maximum 500 words

Essay II
What do you hope to learn in college, and how do you expect these four years to prepare you for a life of civic leadership and purpose?
Maximum 400 words

Essay III
Who do you believe was the greatest leader of the 20th century, and why?
Maximum 150 words

Please answer the following three essay questions so that we can get a better understanding of your interests, aspirations, and character.  These short essays should reflect your own best thinking and not the work of an AI system or anyone other than you. For those who advance in the selection process, our interviewers will explore your written answers to these essays—as well as your academic record and overall resume—in more detail.
